The main idea of “Be a Perfect Person in Just Three Days” by Stephen Manes is that there is a boy named Milo and he wants to become perfect. I think Milo is not intelligent because he turned to the back of the book when Dr. K. Pinkerton Silverfish told him not to. Dr. K. Pinkerton Silverfish is messy because he has hot dog bun has mustard running down his cheeks. First, the book hit Milo on the head. Then, Milo reads the book. Next, Milo takes the book and brings it home. Then he reads it. Finally, to be perfect he puts a broccoli on himself. What do you think will happen next?
If you have ever wanted to be perfect you will like this book because in the book, Milo does all these crazy things to be perfect. If you have ever felt imperfect, you will relate to Milo because he feels imperfect when his Mom told him not to eat so fast at dinner, even though he was just doing that so that he could go upstairs and read the book.
If you like “Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Godd, Very Bad Day” by Judith Virost than you will like “Be a Perfect Person in Just Three Days” by Stephen Manes because in both books they get embarrassed. Milo gets embarrassed when he has to wear the stalk of broccoli and Alexander gets embarrassed when he gets pushed in the mud by his brother. They are also similar because in both books Milo and Alexander both make a lot of mistakes.

Hi Ahmad,
ReplyDeleteThis is a great review! I like the way you engage the audience by asking what they think will happen next, and you also help them relate to the story by asking if they've felt imperfect -- who hasn't? I know I have! Great job!

Ahmad,
ReplyDeleteYou know, I've never wanted to become perfect, per se, but I have wanted to become better than I am. I think that's the meaning of life - to make yourself a little better every single day.
Keep up the good work,
Mr. de Leon
Ahmad,
ReplyDeleteHe puts broccoli on himself? That is some crazy stuff. You wrote a great text-to-self connection (I do want to be perfect all the time!) and a super text-to-text connection (I love Judith Virost's books!), and now all I want to do is pick up How to Be Perfect... and read, read, read, and read some more.
I hope you have a great summer and return to school ready to keep working with equal vigor!
Mr. Russeth
