The main idea of “Be a Perfect Person in Just Three Days” by Stephen Manes is that a boy name Milo wants to be a perfect person in three days. Milo is not trusting because he opens the book when he was not supposed to do so. Dr. K. Pinkerton Silverfish is not neat because he had mustard all over his face and chin and half a bow tie. First, the book hit Milo in the head. Second he takes the book out because being a perfect person sounded good to him the book said, “Pick me out! Please! Please! Please!” Next he got the book and the first thing he has to do is wear broccoli. Then he can not eat all day. Finally, he can’t do anything that broccoli can’t do. What do you think will happen to Milo?

If you ever wanted to be perfect you will like book because in the book Milo wanted to be perfect and he read about being perfect. If you ever felt glum , you will relate to Milo because he feels glum when it is so difficult to be perfect.

If you like “Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day” by Judith Viorst then you will like “How to Be a Perfect Person in Just Three Days” by Stephen Manes because in both books the main chapters have a lot of problems, for example, Milo had to wear broccoli on his beck and Alexander had gum in his hair. They are also similar because in both books they both did something wrong.

  1. Hi Jordan,
These are some really good observations about the book. I like the way you keep it suspenseful by asking the readers what we think will happen to Milo. Great job!

  2. Jordan,
I have definately had my fair share of bad days. Thanks for letting me about this book. I haven't read it in a long time, so I think I should go back and revisit it!

    Keep up the hard work,

  3. Hi Jordan,

Your summary in the first paragraph is very well-organized and clear. I feel like I know Dr. K. Pinkerton Silverfish and Milo already! (Those are some wild names, by the way.) I will very certainly be reading How to Be Perfect in 3 Days now. By closing the first paragraph with a question you made me want to leap out my window and go pick up the book to find out what will happen to Milo!

    Nicely done, nicely done!
